Give thanks you for writing to Microsoft Communities. From your problem description I understand that you are unable to login to the computer with the ambassador account and receive a error message "Password is incorrect. try again". Please correct me I have misunderstood.

I have found a temporary work-around ..... remove all passwords from all accounts, and then that no passwords are required to logon. I tin can now logon reliably with any account.

This would non exist an selection if it was my corporate laptop.

Before that, I restored back to Windows 7, and re-installed the Windows eight Pro upgrade.
I fifty-fifty performed a Nortons registry cleanup on Win7 before I upgraded to Win8.
The same problem re-occurred with a slightly different variation.
This time I could logon intermittently with administrator and other UAC accounts, simply not my primary UAC account.

A Google search on "windows the countersign is incorrect try again" yields 29 million search results. A proportion of these ... 100's of thousands .... if non millions .... would be experiencing the same problem as me, merely dismissed every bit lost/forgotten passwords.

Could you please escalate this problem up through the internal Microsoft technical support hierarchy for resolution.

I finally stumbled beyond the cause of this problem.

I had two languages setup: English language Australian (the default) and English UK.

I had an @ in the password, which happens to exist the " on the English UK keyboard.

Booting upwards from scratch at that place was never a trouble. Nevertheless switching (logging in) as a different user and then switching back, it would toggle the default language over to English U.k. for some unknown reason and the password would not work because the @ cardinal was now the " primal.

To gear up, I deleted English language Great britain because didn't actually need information technology, notwithstanding this appears to me to exist a bug the Microsoft should fix.
